Sr. Cecilia was born and raised in Vietnam. She and her family came to the U.S. when she was 14 years old where they settled in Beaverton, Oregon until she entered the convent - Quinhon Missionary Sisters of the Holy Cross - on January 8, 2000.
She professed as a religious sister and took her three vows (chastity, poverty, and obedience) at Santa Maria parish on July 24, 2004. Since then, her community has sent her to serve at multiple parishes, as well as to further her education.
She has served at St. Felicitas parish and school in San Leandro; St. Joseph parish/Mission of San Jose in Fremont; St. Maria Goretti parish in San Jose; and now she is here at Santa Maria. While she was doing these ministries, she attended Cal State East Bay and received her BA in Liberal Studies in 2007. Later, she attended the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley and received both Master of Theology Studies and Master of Arts in Ministry for a Multicultural Church in 2014.
She loves her religious vocation and enjoys doing ministry with children, especially children with special needs. Her goal in ministering is to guide younger children to KNOW GOD, LOVE GOD, and FOLLOW GOD! Her deep desire is to lead them to Jesus, Who really loves them, so eventually they can be Jesus’ best friends (disciples) to our world today.
She looks forward to meeting you, getting to know you and serving here at Santa Maria!
