Twenty-four years ago, Linda took a chance and wrote to then-pastor Father Tom Gallagher and inquired whether he knew of any church who was looking for some secretarial work. He replied that Santa Maria was beginning a Capital Campaign and that she should come by and talk about a possible "temporary" position.
Four pastors later, she thinks she can say for sure that her "temporary" position is now permanent!
While her title is "Administrative Assistant," she also answers as "secretary." If you want to register as a parishioner, ask who to speak to for various programs, check on your contributions, write an article for the bulletin, or speak to someone regarding a wedding or funeral, Linda will direct you to the proper person - and, if you call the main telephone line, her voice is the one to greet you.
In my spare time you might see her singing in choir at the 10:30am Mass (hopefully on pitch). She also helps the Art and Environment team decorate the church and give suggestions during the monthly Liturgy Team meetings. Tending her gardens at home helps keep her abreast of current ideas in horticulture, an interest she's had since receiving an associate degree in Landscape Gardening and Design.
