Coming to a new place can be intimidating - you may not know anybody, where to go once you arrive, or even how to get here in the first place! We want to make it a little easier to find your way around and get connected by answering some of the questions you may have before you come.
What can I expect on the weekends at Santa Maria?
We currently celebrate three Masses on Sundays, at 8:30am, 10:30am, and 5pm. The 5pm Sunday Mass is a Youth Mass, which means that about twice a month our youth and teens take on the ministry roles of the liturgy as lectors, greeters, and even the choir! The two morning Masses are led by smaller groups of our Adult Choir as we continue to transition through the pandemic.
I'm not Catholic. Can I still worship at Santa Maria?
Yes, all are welcome to worship with us here! If you decide you'd like to become Catholic, our RCIA program will help guide you through the process.
Is there a program for my children during Mass?
Not at the moment. God willing, we will soon be able to again offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word for children in K – 5th grade on Sundays. Guided by a catechist, children will listen to the Sunday readings (especially adapted for children), talk about the Gospel message and our Catholic traditions, and discuss how they all apply to their everyday life. There is no need to register for this, as the children simply join the group when they are invited up during Mass!
What do I wear to church?
At Santa Maria, you'll find a variety of dress styles. Jesus welcomed people from all walks of life and in all manner of dress, and so do we! There are many people who dress up and many who dress more casually - come as you feel most comfortable.
Am I expected to give money if I come to Mass?
No. There is no charge to attend worship. However, if you choose to place an offering in the collection, we thank you for your generosity.
Can I receive Holy Communion if I'm not Catholic?
Everyone is welcome to come forward to receive a blessing; only those who are Catholic may receive Holy Communion. To receive a blessing, come forward with your hands crossed over your chest, and we would be honored to pray over you with God's blessing. If you're more comfortable remaining in your pew during the communion procession, you are more than welcome to do so!
